Clarity Therapy: Bringing clarity to your thoughts.
People come to therapy for various reasons. Some people come to therapy because they are feeling low, experienced a traumatic episode, whilst others come to therapy for the enriching experience that it is. Psychodynamic therapy is not limited to poor mental health. It is an opportunity to get to know yourself, and why specific scenarios will cause you to behave in the manner that you do. It is time for you, and only you.
Once a week, you are invited to flee from distractions, pressures and demands of the external world for an exploratory experience of your inner world. It is a process that allows you to spend quality time, exercising your thoughts, unconscious, and your ways of relating. It is about getting the most out of yourself, being in tune, and strengthening your awareness.I work privately, with the NHS and various charities. I have done lots of work with clients that have terminal illness, learning disabilities, in the process of seeking asylum, have low mood, anxiety and poor anger management.
I like to work psychodynamically, which means our sessions will be focusing on your unconscious, early relationships, and development as a way of understanding your current moods, behaviour, decisions and patterns. People that find this model helpful usually feel their problems are things that are much more complex and deep rooted. My clients also express that working psychodynamically has taught them to be much more reflective and have a greater sense of awareness in their everyday lives. Working psychodynamically has been laid out by the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence to be helpful for those who suffer from depression, self-harm and social anxiety.
Sessions are confidential as I am bound by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy's code of ethics. Individual therapy usually consists of meeting once weekly for 50mins. Sessions can be focused towards an agreed end, or open ended. This agreement is based on what it is you hope to achieve in therapy and your availability. I offer face to face, IM chat and Skype Sessions.
