Once a week, you are invited to flee from distractions, pressures and demands of the external world for an exploratory experience of your inner world. It is a process that allows you to spend quality time, exercising your thoughts, unconscious, and your ways of relating. It is about getting the most out of yourself, being in tune, and strengthening your awareness.
I like to work psychodynamically, which means our sessions will focus on your unconscious, early relationships, and development. This is to help with understanding your current moods, behaviour, decisions and patterns. People that find this model helpful usually feel their problems are complex and deep-rooted. My clients also express that working psychodynamically has taught them to be much more reflective and have a greater sense of awareness in their everyday lives. Working psychodynamically has been laid out by the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence to be helpful for those who suffer from depression, self-harm and social anxiety.
Sessions are confidential as I am bound by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy's code of ethics. Individual therapy usually consists of meeting once weekly for 50mins. Sessions can be focused on an agreed end, or open-ended. This agreement is based on what it is you hope to achieve in therapy and your availability. I offer face-to-face, IM chat and Skype Sessions.
Having never been to therapy before, I wasn't sure what to expect but I found George warm, friendly and easy to talk to. He is patient and understanding but direct in his approach.
George's broad knowledge, has enabled me to build a toolbox of strategies to help me better understand myself. I've found it really interesting looking at the meaning and impact of dreams and using meditation exercises to find calm and connection - if that is not for you don't worry he is also an impressive psychodynamic therapist.
